Heavy flood near Rasuwagadhi in Kerung region disrupts Nepal-China cross border activity.

A devastating flood triggered in the Gyirong (Kerung) region of Tibet, China on Tuesday the 08 July’2025 due to heavy rainfall. The flood has caused noticeable damage and human casualties in the region and the cross-border movement for trade and tourism have been stopped completely. The Nepal-China friendship bridge has been heavily damaged which serves the entry and exit for trade, tourism and pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar. There are hundreds of Kailash Mansarovar yatris were stranded near the border waiting for their Tibet entry permit and visa to arrive with much delays, those travellers are being evacuated and the Companies are now bringing them back to Kathmandu. The first batch of Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims returned after successful darshan.

As the pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar started after five year hiatus, the first batch consisting of 25 Indians for Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Purang helicopter route entereted on 25 June’2025. The Managing Director of Max Holidays met the first batch of Kailash Yatra pilgrims in Nepalgunj and gave them a thorough briefing for their trip. The entire yatra went well and today all pilgrims have returned from Tibet after their successful visit. The yatra went smooth and the group returned to Lucknow/Kathmandu without a delay. In Tibet the China India Pilgrimage Centre made special arrangements to welcome the Indian pilgrims. Good care was taken for their stay throughout. “We are feeling lucky to be among the first Indian pilgrims to visit Kailash Mansarovar after five years. We had an excellent darshan of Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar. The briefing session before the trip helped us a lot in understanding the challenges and the entire team of Max Holidays took extra care for each devotee”, says the group participants upon returning from the yatra. After this now there are several groups of Indian pilgrims travelling in Tibet for the holy yatra. This is a big news for Kailash Mansarovar yatra travellers. Soon after this now the first batch from Lipulekh pass will also be entering into Tibet to understake the pilgrimage.

China Resumes Tibet Permits & Visa for Indian Passport holder after 5 year of Halt

After a log wait of years, finally China started to issue Tibet entry permit and Visa for Indian passport holders to visit Kailash Mansarovar from June 2025. This is a big relief for the Indian devotees and Kailash Mansarovar tour operators in India. “However, the travellers are requested to choose to submit their Tibet permit and group visa applications only through reliable sources who carry good experience in organising Kailash Mansarovar trips, applying Tibet permits and necessary China visa. There are a number of people and agencies claiming to be an experienced operators for this important and challenging spiritual travel, but there are only a handful  19 June’2025 the permit and visa process for Kailash Mansarovar has started and the first Indian group is likely to enter Tibet by 25-26 June’2025 for darshan of Holy Kailash Mansarovar.
